The Harbour Master or his deputy carries out a regular
patrol of the harbour and estuary at all times of the
year particularly in the busy summer months.
The purpose of the patrol is:
* to enable the safe enjoyment and use of the harbour and estuary by giving
mariners practical assistance afloat, guidance on safety and good seamanship
and advice on complying with the byelaws.
* to provide guidance to visiting yachtsmen to ensure that they can be safely
accommodated whilst visiting Teignmouth.
* to take action if the basic principles of safety and good seamanship are
ignored or if there is a breach of the byelaws. e.g: exceeding the speed limit
or creating an undue amount of wash.
Reporting of Incidents
The Harbour Master or his deputy
are unable to cover the harbour and estuary all the
time and in order
to maintain a safe environment it is important that
incidents are reported so the
necessary action can be taken.
This is essential information, which helps them manage the harbour and estuary
more effectively to the benefit of all.
To report an incident telephone
or call and see the Harbour Master.
For major incidents a short report form needs to
be completed as well and sent or given to the
Harbour
Master.
